Women In Touch (WIT) As many of you know, there is a very special group of ladies here in the community who have bonded together to form the WIT Team. This group of ladies all share a common bond, the loss of the love of their life. This group of ladies meets the first Monday of every month in the Ballroom at 5 pm for dinner and lively conversation. After dinner, for those that are interested, we adjourn to the Crafts Room for a couple of games of "nickels," a fun, easy and fast moving game with a jackpot of nickels! We are your support group, and this is your invitation to come join us and be a part of the WIT Team here at Four Seasons! 27 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | March 2016 | From the President – Dave Cometa: So you have finally retired or are close to retiring and you have moved into one of the best communities in Southern California, the "Four Seasons of Hemet." You have dreamed about this time in your life when you could do more traveling, take up some hobbies, or even learn or play more golf. Well, this is the place for you. We have a guard gated community that gives us security and we have a golf course that surrounds us; and we have the best Golf Club around, "The Four Seasons Golf Club." We have around 160 members who enjoy playing golf with our neighbors and have great fellowship with our BBQs and our Awards Banquets and just good old fun on and off the course with our members. So you say, I don't know how to play golf or that I'm not very good at it; well the last time I looked at our roster I didn't see any PGA Pros in our club, just people like us who enjoy this great game and want to be outside enjoying time with our neighbors. We do, however, have some very good golfers with single digit handicaps and more of us with, "well lets just say," not single digit handicaps. My point is that in our Club you can compete on any level. So dust off those old clubs, get an application at the Lodge and join us every Tuesday morning. Jack Benny once said, "Give me golf clubs, fresh air and a beautiful partner. And you can keep the clubs and the fresh air." So come on, get a partner and lets go play golf! From the Tournament Chair – Addis Scott: To play in our Tuesday games, you may sign up at our prior Tuesday golf event, or contact the Tournament Committee by e-mail at hemet4sgc@gmail.com. Our March 2016 Game Schedule is: 3/1, 8 am: (T) – Low Net and/or Low Gross – Post as Tournament 3/8, 8 am: Partners (Same Flight) - Lowest Net Score Per Hole 3/15, 8 am: Balanced Mixed Flight Team Scramble (minimum 3 Tee Shots Each) (GREEN for St Patrick's Day 3/17) 3/22, 8 am: Three Hole Throw-Out, 1 par-5, 1 par-4, & 1 par-3, and/ or Optional Low Net / Low Gross 3/29, 8 am: Balanced Mixed Flight Team – Best 3 Net Scores From the Membership Chair – Elliot Yaeger: We welcome our newest member, Al Garces. Our total membership now stands at 154. If you are interested in joining the club, just pick up an application at The Lodge. Complete the application and bring a check in the amount of $63 made out to Hemet 4 Seasons Golf Club. Club membership will include membership in the Southern California Golf Association. Any questions, contact me at (951) 223-3735 or ey1611@gmail.com. From the Handicap Chair – Lynn Smith: Why will scores made while playing alone no longer be eligible for posting? Primarily, to support a key tenet of the USGA Handicap System: peer review. Knowing golfers rely on the integrity of the system to produce an accurate view of playing ability, this change helps golfers form a better basis to support or dispute scores that have been posted to a player's scoring record. The majority of handicapping authorities around the globe have employed this policy for some time. With them, the USGA believes it provides a more accurate view of a golfer's ability, supporting integrity, fairness and equitable play among all golfers. What constitutes NOT playing alone? As long as someone accompanies the player during the round (e.g., fellow competitor, opponent, caddie, marker for tournament, friend riding along in a cart) the player is NOT playing alone. From the Rules Chair – Tom Johnson: One of the significant changes in the rules involves movement of the ball after the player has addressed the ball. A player has "addressed the ball" when the club is grounded just in front or behind the ball, and no longer involves taking a stance. Now there is a penalty only when the player causes the movement of the ball after address. A ball which moves must be repositioned. All of the changes are reviewed in the new "Rules of Golf " which took effect in January 1. For anyone that wants to feel more comfortable about the rules, try reading the "Quick Guide" in the "Rules of Golf " book. The "Quick Guide" is easier reading than the rules themselves. From the Greens Chair – Ron Leatherman: I have talked to Roger and Jose about the gopher poison currently being used on the course. They are putting the poison deep in the holes and not spreading it around. I would like to hear from our golfers if they see a problem on the course. I will take pertinent issues to Roger and try to get them fixed. Let me know here: lmangrp@aol.com.
