| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | AUGUST 2016 |29 We wonder about the purpose of life… What higher purpose than to discover our True Nature? Meditation, an integral part of proceeding on a path of Self (God) – Realization promises to do just that. When the mind with its myriad thoughts becomes quiet and still, we can feel what lies beyond. The Pure, Non-Dual (only ONE) Consciousness lies beyond and is our True, Undifferentiated and Eternal Being. Satsang (group meeting with a spiritual aim) begins with a 30 min. meditation (15 min. if new people are present) followed by a discourse and a short video presentation offered by a teacher adhering to the same teaching of Non-Duality. As always questions are warmly encouraged. We meet in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Our weekly schedule is as follows: Wednesdays at 2:30 pm – 4 pm (NOTE: On the 4th Wednesday of the month satsang starts at 3:30 pm) Sundays at 2:30 pm – 4 pm This is a FREE offering. My background includes 29 years of formal spiritual practice under the guidance of two masters and seven years of teaching (five at Sun Lakes). You need not bring anything except an Open Mind. My name is Gina and I can be reached at 846-1220 or gina-sat@msn.com or if you have further questions. Meditation: a pathway to truth Karaoke Group One thing most of us usually think we really know by memory is the words to some of our favorite songs. However, when we try to sing them out loud without a lyric sheet or Karaoke screen, reality sets in. I remember listening to a radio show once and they asked, can you tell me the name of the song with these lyrics? The lyrics were "Birds do it, bees do it, even educated fleas do it." So is that is the name of that song? Or how about these lyrics? "It was the third of June another sleepy dusty delta day" — or even "At first I thought it was infatuation but it's lasted so long, Now I find myself wanting to marry you and take you home." If you know the titles of these songs simply by reading these lyrics you're probably a professional singer, a record collector or a DJ. The great thing about Karaoke is that you don't have to worry about what the lyrics are because whatever song you choose, the lyrics to that song will magically appear on the monitor screen to help you along. "An Evening of Karaoke with Barb Miller, Rosie Ingalls and D.J. Blast" is something really worth doing. If you love music, enjoy singing or just like to listen, our Karaoke get-togethers are filled with surprises. You never know who may show up, nor what songs will be sung. You may hear songs by Gino DeMonaco,or his close friends The Marvelettes, possibly Sassy and Patsy Olivarez may drop by or perhaps Sheila and Larry James may join us with a song or two. We sometimes even get "Ray" of the band "Bad Influence." We've had band members of The Radio Flyers come by to join in the fun as well. If you've not been by to try out your talented voice on our microphones, we strongly suggest that you put our Karaoke events on your social calendar. At our events you will experience singing, dancing and friendship. We'd love to have you join us the next time out. Our next Karaoke dates are Sat., Aug. 5 in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom and Fri., Aug. 27 in the South Clubhouse. Our shows are from 5:30 to 9:30 pm. We have one of the largest Karaoke music libraries around just waiting for you to pick one of your favorite songs to sing. Why not come out and join Barb Miller, Rosie Ingalls and D.J. Blast this August and hopefully from then on. Oh! by the way, the answers to the song lyric trivia questions are respectively. 1. Let's Do It (Let's Fall In Love) by Cole Porter 2. Ode To Billie Joe by Bobbie Gentry 3. You Send Me by Sam Cooke The next General Meeting will be held on Sun., Aug. 21, at 2 pm at the South Clubhouse.
