| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | AUGUST 2016 |27 I hope everyone is enjoying the summer and keeping cool. My husband and I survived the Grand Canyon with the grandkids are happy to have things back to normal. It has been a fun summer and we think we have the best grandkids! Our next meeting of our caregiver support group will meet on Thurs., Aug. 18 at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Our guest speaker will be Jennifer Castenada, from Somerford Place in Redlands. Mark your calendars for this informative guest speaker who will be speaking on the Bridge to Rediscovery. She will tell you about the program at Somerford Place, memory boxes and how to care for your loved one. Our patient group meets in the Arts and Craft Room. This group is designed to help you, the caregiver. Just drop your loved one off and go on to the meeting. Enjoy the meeting and support group knowing your loved one is well taken care of and having fun. We play games, do exercises, have entertainment and do just about anything your loved one wants. Our volunteers are loving and caring. This month Susan Brown will entertain us. I am hoping that she brings Theresa Moreno with her again. In May they both entertained and we had such an enjoyable time. Thanks to Lee and Michael (Tin Man's Heart) for entertaining last month. If you have any questions about the meeting, support group or patient group, call me (Anne) at 845-8700 or Diane at 769-0130. We are here to help you. We also have reading material we can loan you. Give Joanie a call at 769-1386. Continuing with the 50 things you should know about Alzheimer's disease, here are numbers 40, 41, 42, and 43. #40. Be sure to save the date for The Friendship Club's show on Sept. 11, featuring Jason Garfield, the funniest juggler you've ever seen! He's an entertainer from Norfolk, Connecticut, and the founder and president of the World Juggling Federation. Garfield believes that juggling should be regarded as a sport. His stage performances are a mixture of stand-up comedy and demanding juggling routines. Jason is regarded as one of the most controversial members of the juggling community. Sharing the evening with Jason will be Barry Minniefield, a 53-year-old Palm Springs singer from "The Voice." Barry first became interested in music while attending church with his grandmother, but after high school, singing took a backseat when he discovered his love of cooking. He moved to Los Angeles and began a career as a professional chef. As an executive chef at the Improv Comedy Club, he started singing karaoke for fun, and his passion for music returned. "It's never too late to pursue your dreams," he says. The Friendship Club
