48 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | NOVEMBER 2016 Ping Pong Paddle Tennis The Oldlympics is a big sports festival for seniors. People can complete in 19 sports and activities. Valley-Wide Recreation and Park District in San Jacinto Valley created the Oldlympics in 1985 and this year over 560 people joined in the fun. Among those people were Pete Antoine, Lian Lee, Jeannie Baker, Louis Luna, Rony Tordesillas, Gilbert Apodaca, Richard Carrasco and Niles Sundstrom, all from our Four Seasons Table Tennis Club. Jeannie won a gold medal in singles. Gilbert won a silver in singles and a bronze in doubles. Lian won a silver medal in singles competition. The biggest winner of all, however, was Richard. He won 17 medals over all, the most of any athlete in the games, and one of those was a bronze in ping pong singles. Whether you are a medal winning type of player or a beginner, we would love to have you join us. You can find us in the Aerobics Room Monday through Friday at 10:30 am and Saturday at 11 am. Please contact Niles Sundstrom at (951) 572-5119 or Alan Chan at (310) 251-9269 if you have any questions or need more information about your Four Seasons Ping Pong Group. ~ Niles Sundstrom In August, Sun Cha and I celebrated our first anniversary here at Four Seasons. Within a few days of our arrival we were warmly welcomed by our neighbors and others throughout our new community. After getting settled in, we went out to test the waters to see what activities we might want to get involved with. One of the first people we met was Alan Chan, who invited us to play paddle tennis. I had no idea what paddle tennis was, but I tried it and wow, to my surprise this game was so much fun. After playing just a few days I could tell I was getting a good workout from head to toe, burning calories, while having a great time with my new friends. So for all you new families, and even those that maybe are looking for a new activity to participate in, I want to encourage you to come out and try this game. Our normal games are doubles. Many of our top players are the ladies and everyone of every skill level is welcome. Our paddle tennis committee is putting together a singles tournament that will shortly be taking place. For all those old paddle tennis players who have been sitting on the fence lately, dust off your paddles, and for you new players come and learn this great game. Get ready for this fun tournament that promises to be exciting. ~ Alex Castano (L-R) Richard Carrasco, Louis Luna, Lian Lee, Shao Carrasco, Brian Anderson, Jill Anderson, Bill Baker, and Jeannine Baker Evening play on the beautiful courts in Four Seasons
