This is the perspective of the Artist of the Month, Ginny Londeaux: I always wondered if I had any kind of talent. This is my second drawing and when I heard my family and friends say "You drew that? That's good!, I was shocked. Then, when my husband said, "You're naturally gifted, honey!" and meant it — it amazed me. I've always loved the forests with their unique shrubs, plants, trees and meandering pathways. I plan to move into watercolor soon to bring my artwork to life with beautiful bursts of color and a distinct kind of contrast. This class has opened up a whole new world of expression for me. I find that drawing helps me to relax and enjoy the process. I appreciate Rob being right there encouraging all of us by giving ideas and a wealth of instruction from years of prolific art background. I treasure being with fellow students, too. Both Rob and the rest of the class are supportive and fun to be around. Join us! No one is a stranger and you may find your untapped expression of creativity come to life before your eyes, like I did! ~ Ginny Londeaux We meet Mondays from 10 am to 12 noon and/or Wednesdays from 6 pm to 8 pm. We're planning to screen a great slate of films in 2017. Our first monthly screening, on Sunday, Jan. 8 at 6 pm, is the film Love and Friendship (UK 2016, 1 hr. 32 min., English). Here is a brief description from IMDb.com: "Set in the 1790s, Love and Friendship centers on beautiful widow Lady Susan Vernon, who has come to the estate of her in-laws to wait out colorful rumors about her dalliances circulating through polite society. Whilst there, she decides to secure a husband for herself and her rather reluctant debutante daughter, Frederica." Our second monthly screening, on Sunday, Jan. 22 at 6 pm, is the film The Innocents (France 2016, 1 hr. 55 min., French with English subtitles). Here is a brief description from IMDb.com: "In 1945 Poland, a young French Red Cross doctor who is sent to assist the survivors of the German camps discovers several nuns in advanced states of pregnancy during a visit to a nearby convent." All of our screenings are followed by lively discussion about the film; we'd love to have you join us. The Lodge Theatre has very limited seating, so if you're interested in our screenings, come early; we hope to see you there. Please note that all films announced are subject to availability. If you have any questions about the Counter Culture Cinema Club or want to recommend a film, please email Micki Rosen at michelesrosen@ gmail.com. ~ Micki Rosen Work by Artist of the Month Ginny Londeaux
