Computer Club We wonder about the purpose of life… What higher purpose than to discover our True Nature? Meditation, an integral part of proceeding on a path of Self (God) – Realization promises to do just that. When the mind with its myriad thoughts becomes quiet and still, we can feel what lies beyond. The Pure, Non-Dual (only ONE) Consciousness lies beyond and is our True, Undifferentiated and Eternal Being. Satsang (group meeting with a spiritual aim) begins with a 30 min. meditation (15 min. if new people are present) followed by a discourse and a short video presentation offered by a teacher adhering to the same teaching of Non-Duality. As always questions are warmly encouraged. We meet in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room (next to the Library). We meet Sundays from 11:30 am to 1 pm. This is a FREE offering. My background includes 29 years of formal spiritual practice under the guidance of two masters and seven years of teaching (five at Sun Lakes). You need not bring anything except an Open Mind. My name is Gina and I can be reached at gina-sat@msn.com or 846-1220 if you have further questions. Meditation: a pathway to truth The Art League's next meeting is Sun., Feb. 19, at 2 pm at the South Clubhouse. David Fairrington will be the demo artist at the meeting. Although mostly associated with portraits, Fairrington paints a variety of subjects including landscapes. He currently lives in Beaumont and works on projects of his own as well as teaching both individuals and classes. In his presentation, Fairrington will work with the audience in critiquing several paintings brought by Art League members to the meeting. All Sun Lakers interested in art are invited to see the demo. Marge Amstadter will teach a one-day workshop on Perspective Drawing on two Mondays during February in the Main Clubhouse Arts and Crafts Room from 9 am to 12 noon. The dates are Feb. 6 and 13. The cost is $20 for each workshop. Please contact Roz Miller at 845-8218 for information or to sign up. All Sun Lakes residents are invited to join the Art League. The 2017 dues are $20 per year. For more information, please contact Membership Chairperson Gladys Burks at Art League Researching our family ancestors wouldn't be complete if we didn't include those of a different interest – sports figures. So as everyone has been noticing, Super Bowl Sunday, a new national holiday in some homes, is approaching on Feb. 5. As a side note, I so wish that I could find superstar Tom Brady listed as a cousin in my extended family. However, I did find a baseball player who played for the Boston Red Sox in the 20s. Well, that gives the family something to talk about when encouraging the young to pursue greatness. Who do you have in your listing of family ancestors in the sports' field? Maybe an Olympic games' participant or a college athlete who attained some fame is waiting to be documented. Just remembered, I do have a cousin who played football for Auburn University. Go Tigers! This month's meeting of the Sun Lakes Genealogy Society will be on Wed., Feb. 25, at 1 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Dues for the year are $15. Info., Charlene Fink, 769-4454.
