library advisory committee Now that summer is winding down, we might just have a little more time to sit back, relax and read a good book. Thanks to all of our wonderful residents, we have a great selection of stories for everyone to enjoy. Speaking of great selections, we appreciate all donations and are in special need of large print volumes. They seem to just fly off the shelves. If you have a large number of books to donate, please contact Socorro Castellano at 769-9581. Advanced notice is necessary so we can schedule our great volunteers so they're not overwhelmed. If you would like to join this group of ladies and gentlemen who volunteer, please contact Peggy Inman at 845-8609. We would love to have you join us! NOTE: We're looking for new volunteer members for the upcoming year. Volunteer interest forms are located in the flyer rack in the Main Clubhouse. Our book for September is "Darkness My Old Friend," by Lisa Unger. Retired cop Jones finds himself drawn back into the troubled lives of his Hollow neighbors… to the possible detriment of his marriage. Meanwhile, Bethany struggles to control her daughter Willow. Then Willow spots a man digging for a body, and they are all brought together. The beauty of this unconventional crime novel is that focus is not on whodunit but the darkness that drives us. computer club paisano club There was stiff competition on the bocce court, but a good time was had by all, and twelve winners were awarded prizes. Prior to the games everyone enjoyed pizza and salad from Domenicos' restaurant… very good! The Sept. 7, meeting at the South Clubhouse will be a pot-luck ( ever popular ) with horse-racing for the entertainment. Members are also asked to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to HELP. In October, we are planning a trip to Little Italy in San Diego for the Nation's largest Italian Festival, with food booths, games, music and entertainment. This bus trip will be in lieu of our regular meeting. It will be Oct. 14; price to be announced. We are still on summer schedule. Meetings will be held once a month on the third Thursday of September. All residents are welcome to attend our meetings, starting at 1 pm, in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Prizes are given away at each meeting. Visit our clubs website at computerclubatsunlakes.org for meeting times, club activities, programs, class handouts and membership applications. Get extra tickets for the Prize Drawing there also. UPCOMING PROGRAMS Sept. 20: Computer Graphics: Computer Graphics What makes the monitor work. What are the Video file formats you are watching.
