36 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | May 2017 | Bocce I would like to thank all our players who signed up this year and joined a Bocce team, or volunteered to be a Team Captain. I would like to encourage more of our residents to come out on Sunday afternoon to watch the teams compete in their weekly scheduled games. We had less players participate for our spring season, but the teams that have committed to play have renovated courts approved by the board to play on this year. A large portion of clay was removed and sand put in to replace the clay which brought the level down to expose more of the side rails so that players could achieve bank shots. Also the balls have slowed down and roll without bouncing. So far, the players have no complaints and like the condition of the courts. Like most clubs, there is a period where participation drops off and there are less folks involved in the activities sponsored here at Four Seasons. When faced with conditions beyond the control of members, Chairpersons, and volunteers, changes on the format of the club become a prime discussion. We would like to think that the Club will convince more players to come join us and one of those methods is to have short playoffs which we call Bocce Scramble. The weeks are less and it is much more simplified than the usual season and it becomes the learning curve for non-players that want to experiment and do something different. Please watch here for more information about starting a four week Scramble. Come join us. Chairperson, Ross Brunetto 926-8295. Newsflash: Okay, we want you to know that Shuffleboard is alive and kicking but needs more players to participate during the scheduled spring season. We ended up with about half of the usual membership, but believe it was due to changing the season from the fall to the spring where the weather conditions accommodate our senior residents. If you missed our message about sign-ups, we will try and send out news bulletins before we schedule the playing of a short game to fill in for the remaining months. It is nicknamed Shuffleboard Scramble. It is a less involved game where fun is the main topic rather than focusing on winning first place. Please keep your eyes on the Shuffleboard articles and look for the message of "Scramble teams now forming," and how to sign up. The Shuffleboard courts are scheduled for a major overhaul and will be repainted and resurfaced with a diamond glaze. We look forward to experimenting on a much better and improved Shuffleboard court and invite you to come try it out. Meanwhile, please come watch the club on Thursdays starting at 9 am and you may have a chance to sub for a missing player. Shuffleboard New and improved bocce courts!
