FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2017 53 So, June is here, and we are reporting what happened in April. There's a good reason for that, though. You see, we have article deadlines, and sometimes our most important and fun events happen after the deadline. Oh, well (sigh). On April 10 we held our bi-monthly Curly Cues luncheon at Guy's Restaurant in Banning. As you can see from the above photo, it was well-attended and lots of fun. So much fun, in fact, that some of the regular Guy's customers re-sat themselves in the bar because there was "too much laughter" from our group. Oh, well! We had a blast! Then, we returned to the Lodge for our regular 1 pm play time. On April 24 we held our quarterly in-house tournament. Since many of the members were either traveling, had doctors' appointments, etc., we only had eight ladies participate in the morning session and eight in the afternoon session, so we used all four tables and played a singles tournament instead of partnerships. As a result, Alex Vanhoose was our morning winner, and returned at 2 pm for the afternoon playoff against the afternoon session winner Barbara Morton. It was a really close playoff game, and both ladies gave it their best effort, Alex was the day's winner, with Barbara in second place. Congratulations, ladies, for a well-played tournament! (See above photos of our beaming winners). All the Curly Cues are winners in our book! We are now looking forward to our semi-annual tournament against the Billiards for Fun Group in June. This time, the BFFG members will only have one handicap: last pocket. We think that's fair because the Curly Cues' reputation for billiard agility and expertise is growing exponentially with their desire to play a better billiards game. If you are interested in joining a really fun group of ladies who are becoming quite proficient at this challenging game, come by the billiards room any Monday and check out one of the two sessions: 11 am to 1 pm OR 1 to 3 pm. Janet McAdamis did just that, and is having a great time. (See above photo of Janet, one of our newest members). We would be thrilled if you joined us too. ~ Eileen Gilbert-Antoine Curly Cues L-R: Tournament winners Barbara Morton (2nd place), Alex Vanhoose (1st place) Bi-monthly luncheon at Guy's Restaurant New member Janet McAdamis
