FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2017 19 The Facilities Committee is working on a number of maintenance and improvement projects. The wrought iron fencing in our community requires painting every five years. We currently have over 43,000 linear feet of the fencing at Four Seasons. This large project will be divided into groups consisting of our residential phases A,B,C,D and E. The painting will be done, by phase, over a number of years. The first areas to be painted will be phases A and B. Before the start of the project our management and the painting vendor will provide detailed information to the residents concerning the painting schedule and the process. The Summit pool area locks are being replaced. This will be done in conjunction with the installation of the ultraviolet light disinfection system, which will reduce the chlorine levels that are affecting the door mechanisms. The Summit rotary has several areas where the pavers have loosened and become uneven. The pavers in these areas will be removed and any bad pavers replaced after re-compaction. This may continue to be an ongoing issue in our traffic circles until the heavy equipment traffic is reduced at build-out. This is the most cost- effective solution until that time. The Ad Hoc Recreation Committee has recommended to the Facilities Committee to convert the two existing tennis courts at the Lodge to eight pickleball courts. The committee is moving forward with the conversion. Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing senior sports in the country and is very popular in our community. The Pickleball Club held a meeting to review several court conversion options. They chose a plan that does not require additional concrete or costly fencing and electrical modifications. This will meet the future needs of pickleball players while also reducing the conversion costs significantly. Thanks for the help. The Facilities Committee meets in the RCN building on the third Tuesday of the month at 8:30 am. We always welcome residents to join us and share any ideas or concerns. We currently have several positions available on the committee for anyone interested in serving. ~ Bruce Lewis Facilities Committee
