10 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | July 2018 | We are so pleased to be sponsoring our Four Season's authors for your enjoyment. Howard Feigenbaum's talk was an absolute delight. At the end of his talk you knew Howard as a friend. Make sure your calendar is marked for Jim Hitt's informal talk on Sept. 13. It's an entertaining hour and we provide cookies! Welcome to your Four Seasons beautiful library! It is created by you, the residents, and maintained by a committee that loves both Four Seasons and books. There is a photo in the library of the committee. It's a hard working group that really enjoys their job. Be sure to thank them for their many hours of service when you see them in the library. We have no formal meetings in July and August to accommodate vacations, but we are still in the library every day. July brings the celebration of our Independence Day! What a great reason to buy a book. Pick up a history book, whether it be fiction or non-fiction, and then donate it to our library. We want to thank the individuals who donated all of the new hardbound and paperback books. We so appreciate you! While working in the library today checking copyright dates I was truly impressed with how current we are. To make room to display more books we have removed most of the 2007 hardbound books. As of now we display hardbound from 2008-2018. That's 10 years of writing! Please donate your May, June and July 2018 magazines to our library to be displayed at this time. The one exception are the National Geographic's. We are still displaying paperback books from the years 2014-2018. Don't help us by putting your paperback books away. Please allow us to do our job. Old paperbacks are donated directly to the Hemet library for their bag sales. All the sales and donations truly help the Hemet library keep their doors open. It would be great if you dropped them off at the Hemet library. We could still use audio books on CDs. It is RV traveling time and that's when the audio CDs are checked out the most. It's always great to have newer ones for residents while driving to vacation spots. Two more authors transitioned to the bigger library as of late. Tom Wolfe was the author of 15 books, fiction and nonfiction. Mr. Wolfe loved American culture for all its excess. Not everyone he wrote about enjoyed his words. Critics despised him as he did not take them seriously. Philip Roth also left us. Mr. Roth produced a body of work spanning decades that explored his own Jewish American identity and the absurdity of life. He tackled self-perception, sexual freedom, his own Jewish identity and the conflict between modern and traditional morals. Remember, our library works on the honor system. All books are the property of Four Seasons and have been purchased by our residents. Please respect this by returning all books after you are done. Thank you. New to our library is the latest biographical bestseller Jackie, Janet and Lee: The Secret Lives of Janet Auchincloss and Her daughters Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Lee Radziwill (St. Martin's Press, 2018), written by J. Randy Taraborrelli who has authored over 20 bestselling biographies. If you are shaking your head and saying, "Oh, no, not another book about the Kennedys," shake no more because this book is overall a gossipy narrative about the sibling rivalry between the Bouvier daughters and their formidable mother, and less about the Kennedy clan. The main cast of characters are Janet Lee Bouvier Auchincloss Morris and her two internationally famous daughters. In this family portrait readers see the ambitious mother who taught her daughters to rise in the world through cold and calculated cunning. The book is an easy read and no matter what one thinks of this family, you will recognize they were some tough cookies. Library Committee
